• Travel Industry Mentor Experience gathered at Flight Centre HQ
  • Penny Spencer shares a lifetime of leadership lessons

Travel Industry Mentor Experience (TIME) took centre stage at Flight Centre Travel Group’s Brisbane HQ recently to re-connect, network and introduce its renowned mentoring program.

Brisbane put on a show for the TIME event. The view from Flight Centre HQ.

Guest speaker at the event was the program’s founder, Penny Spencer. Penny’s presentation was entitled ‘Leadership & Lessons’—an inspired and insightful look at good (and not so good) leadership.

“It was a real treat to have Penny deliver the keynote presentation at our event”, said TIME’s Queensland coordinator, Emily Warbrick – General Manager of Snowscene Holidays.

“Penny generously shared leadership lessons learned right through her career. She is an inspiration and mentor to so many”, added Emily.

The Travel Industry Mentor Experience is a not-for-profit enterprise established in 2009 to offer business skills training, development guidance and support sessions to aspiring future leaders of the travel and tourism industry within a mentoring and peer collaboration environment.

The program operates within a structured framework to deliver agreed outcomes for each participant, and typically runs for 6 months.

“It’s so great to see TIME’s footprint growing in the Sunshine State. Our Queensland network is really thriving”, said Penny.

A key take-out from Penny’s presentation was the principle that great leaders don’t set out to be a leader. They set out to make a difference. In the 10 years since she founded TIME, Penny has certainly done that.
