Gai Tyrrell is Chief Executive Officer of Sabre Pacific. Appointed to this role in September 2007, Gai is responsible for driving the strategic goals and operations of Sabre Pacific throughout Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.
Gai has 20 years of experience in the travel industry, possessing a solid and thorough understanding of the airline industry as well as both the corporate and retail travel sectors. As a prominent, well-liked and highly respected industry figure, Gai consistently demonstrates strong leadership skills and is renowned for her negotiation and change management skills.
Earlier in her career, Gai spent 13 years with Qantas Airways as General Manager Industry Sales. In 2000, she joined TQ3 Australia (now FCM – Flight Centre Corporate Division) as Executive General Manager, where she significantly increased profit and was instrumental in securing major corporate contracts. In 2004, Gai was appointed Chief Operating Officer at Jetset Travelworld Group (JTG), an ASX listed company with more than 650 franchisees nationally. During her time there, JTG achieved record profits and the share price of the company quadrupled.
Prior to joining Sabre Pacific, Gai acted as a strategic consultant to the travel industry and was also a Director of the Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA).
